well, here’s my poster thus far, advocating the legalization of marijuana.
i started by creating the shapes for circles and text, then placing a photo of bob marley. i was actually inspired to do this subject matter by this very poster of him hanging in my roommate’s room. (for the record i am not a frequent user and neither is my roommate; in fact, i don’t think she’s ever tried it at all…she’s merely a connoisseur of jamaican culture).
next i’m going to work on rearranging the text in the “T” better….then on adding smoke shapes. suzi suggested the twirl effect tool, which would actually suit the organic style of the text quite well, but i also remembering seeing a nice tutorial on creating realistic smoke effects. maybe i’ll apply that.
also, i LOVE coldplay’s new single, viva la vida. the itunes ad in which it’s featured is a beautiful work of digital art. chris martin looks great, and the lyrics are about the french revolution from the perspective of the old king (pretty darn deep, eh?). their new album cover actually even features eugene delacroix’s Liberty Leading the People. so all in all, very relevant to our education. i’m even considering buying the album, altho, i probably need the $15 more than apple does.

Hey, man. The face looks great, and I think the twirl effect on the bubbly parts of the smoke ( like how you were playing with them in class) would encourage really nice movement around the space of the page.
I heart Viva La Vida. The lyrics are so rich and create a beautiful narrative. My love for Coldplay has returned to me after the disappointment of X&Y. Hooorah.
